Introduction

The current scouting mechanics have led to a trend where most scouts are becoming obsolete. Only a small fraction of top-rated scouts (those with a rating of 90 or above, representing just 3% of the total) are predominantly discovering players. Meanwhile, the majority of scouts with ratings below 70 are being left unused, making them worthless and diminishing the game's ability to welcome new users.

Our main goal is to make these mechanics more realistic, where true excellence is a rare find, honed through practice and time. We believe this will not only make the game more fun but also contribute to solving the two issues mentioned before.

The MetaSoccer Dev team proposed a revamp of these mechanics, which was met with resistance from the community. As a result, we've opened this channel to work together on a collaborative proposal. You can find the initial proposal on the MetaSoccer blog: https://metasoccer.com/blog/scouting-mechanics-revamp.

Goal

This proposal refinement aims to involve the MetaSoccer community in developing a series of suggestions to address two specific issues related to the Scouting mechanics.

Issues

1. Scouts go unused

This have two bad consequences for the entire ecosystem:

2. Growth is limited by player supply

There are 9709 Scouts. On average, a scout brings 3.5 players after each scouting session. Each scout can conduct a scouting session once every six days.

In an optimistic scenario where 20% of Scouts are utilized, 5922 new players can be created per week. Assuming the average squad size is 15, this equates to only 394 users per week, or 1576 users per month.

Currently, only 3% of Scouts are being utilized…

We need to increase the number of players minted per week by at least 10x, if you we want to make MetaSoccer a sustainable business.

How It Works

We've opened this channel for you to share your thoughts, comment on our proposals, and suggest counter-proposals. Our goal is to create the best possible proposal for the benefit of MetaSoccer. The process is straightforward:

  1. We'll keep this channel open for comments until 23:59:59 UTC on Friday, the 26th. We'll process all comments as quickly as possible and refine the proposals outlined below together.
